Innovative PHP development: Modular backend and vertical architecture.

Challenge

The online sales platform of the energy discounter eprimo (www.eprimo.de) should be optimized for future business requirements. The focus was on optimizing the contract route and the customer account for more service competence.

Solution

Based on a UX concept of the agency RedRabbit, triplesense redesigned the portal and the onsite services (tariff calculator, customer portal etc.) technically and implemented them programmatically. The groundbreaking PHP development was a special feature: triplesense set up the backend system in a modular and scalable way and chose a vertical architecture. This architecture separates the content management system (CMS) from the service instance, which controls business processes and connects to third-party systems. This allows Eprimo to easily and cost-effectively add new modules or change the portal design at any time. In 2012, the website was continuously optimized in terms of conversion and usability.

To promote digital customer communication, eprimo customers have been able to manage documents in electronic form in the customer portal since the beginning of 2013.

Result

The Internet platform enables new customers to calculate tariffs and place orders, as well as retrieve product and tariff information. For existing customers there is a customer account where contracts can be managed and adjusted. Various services, such as recording meter readings or retrieving invoices, offer additional benefits to existing customers.

The customer

As an energy discounter, eprimo addresses price-performance-conscious customers who are also interested in low-cost eco-electricity and eco-gas offers. “More customers. Lower costs”: This is the brand promise that focuses on existing customers – not just new customers. In addition to attractive prices, eprimo focuses on service quality and customer-friendly contract terms. New customers are increasingly choosing PrimaKlima offers, while eprimo’s existing customers often switch to an eco-product. eprimo has successfully positioned itself as a provider of “green” energy products.

Since 2007, eprimo has been RWE’s central discount sales company for electricity and natural gas. Thanks to lean processes, eprimo is now one of the leading nationwide energy sales companies in Germany. In southern Hesse, eprimo, as a basic supplier of electricity, assumes responsibility for the region and is active locally.

Triplesense Reply is responsible for eprimo’s digital platforms in terms of concept, design and technology. This includes the sales website, the customer portal, internal knowledge platforms and an extranet for sales partners. Systems / functions that are integrated into the website, among other things LiveChat, web analytics, tariff calculator, contract data storage, validation services, opt-in manager, contract data information, external web services. In addition, Triplesense Reply regularly conducts campaigns and conversion optimization projects for eprimo.
